Fishermen snared in Lake Victoria border dispute

Nairobi has secured the release of 16 Kenyans detained by Ugandan authorities. The men were arrested while fishing in Lake Victoria near the Riabana and Kalangala islands in Uganda over the weekend. Their release was secured following negotiations between Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed and her Ugandan counterpart Sam Kutesa. CapitalFM reports that MPs from Kenya’s Nyanza region demanded definitive action over the border dispute with Uganda over the Lake Victoria waters they share.
