The Ethiopian Government has embarked on a major anti-corruption crackdown which has seen 56 senior government officials and business leaders arrested over the past month. A report on the Xinhua site notes that investigators have also frozen the assets of 210 individuals and 15 companies that have links with the suspects. The Ethiopian Ministry of Government Communication Affairs said the initiative is part of government's reform agenda, which was started at the end of 2016 following mass protests around the country. Although Ethiopians have witnessed their country's economy growing as one of the fastest economies in the world with double-digit growth challenges attributed to bad-governance and corruption have raised tensions.
