The Egyptian Government on Thursday extended the state of emergency that was imposed in April for an additional three months. According to a decree issued in the official state gazette, it will be effective immediately. An Egypt Independent report notes that the state of emergency was imposed in the wake of deadly suicide attacks that targeted two churches in Alexandria and Tanta which left 45 people dead.
