Dane in court for high-profile Nigeria murders

A Magistrate's Court in Yaba last week ruled that Danish national Peter Nielsen has a case to answer in the alleged killing of his Nigerian wife, Zainab, and their three-year-old daughter, Petra. A New Telegraph report notes that the court ordered his continued detention until his 28 June trial in the High Court. Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye granted a remand order, compelling Nielsen’s detention for another 30 days to enable the police and the Lagos State government to file a charge of murder against him before a High Court. Nielsen was arraigned on 11 April for the alleged murders on Banana Island in Lagos three days earlier. Zainab, a 37-year-old singer popularly known as Alizee, was well known in Nigeria.
