Bongo returns for swearing-in ceremony

Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba, who has been out of the country after suffering a stroke in October, last week returned for the swearing-in of his new government. His return comes a week after an attempted coup by Republican Guard officers. 'His presence is a sigh of relief for the economy of our country. It must reassure businessmen,' said Minister of Economy Jean Marie Ogandaga. A report on the News24 site notes that Bongo made no statements at the swearing-in. He appointed Julien Bekale as the new Prime Minister shortly after the 7 January coup attempt.
