Accra church attacked over cleric’s prophecy

Angry Muslim youths have attacked a church in Ghana's capital after its pastor predicted the possible death of chief imam Nuhu Sharabutu in 2019. An organ, windows and chairs were damaged after the youth stormed cleric Isaac Owusu-Bempah's church in Accra. BBC News reports that Self-styled prophets have a huge following in Africa, and often predict major events, including the deaths of leading public figures. In a sermon on 31 December, Owusu-Bempah prophesised the death of Sharabutu. The youths streamed the attack live on Facebook. Ghana is a mainly Christian country, with no history of religious conflict.
